Geima is fully compliant to the organic standards. A great attention is paid to customer requests in relation to consumer protection and adoption of more strict international rules.
To this aim Geima has achieved in 1992 the certification ECOGRUPPO ITALIA[ext] to guarantee better consumenrs rights.
ECOGRUPPO ITALIA is an international control body whose mission is to guarantee that organic production reach the consumer market according to the provisions of EU and national standards.
In addition Geima has achieved in 2004 the certification GLOBAL GAP. The GLOBAL GAP protocol establishes the "Good Agriculture Practices" for the grower by providing guidelines for a shared and accepted growing process, a minimal environment impact in compliance with EU rules. The protocol encourages the use of organic and bio dynamic approaches to pest control and workers rights as well.
In 2010 Geima achieved the IGP "Protected Geographical Indication" for the Lemon Interdonato that is cultivated only in the Province of Messina, in Sicily. Geima complies with standards related to the production of this peculiar lemon cultivation.
